Objectives
and Membership
The California Christian Mission to the Philippines is an organization
formed by a group of Filipino Christian families whose main objective
is to provide supplemental financial support to the preaching of the Gospel
of Christ in the Philippines. Membership initially came from Los Angeles
and Orange Counties. As the Lord blessed the organization, membership
in the Mission spread to other parts of California and even to other states
of the United States and Canada.
Every
member is dedicated to abide by the by-laws and objectives of the organization
consistent with the New Testament teachings. Each member contributes to
the funds of the organization in amounts he or she is convicted by faith
and blessings from the Lord. Active membership currently comes from Christian
Churches in Southern California like the First Christian Church of Huntington
Beach, Carson Christian Church, East Anaheim Christian Church, Westside
Christian Church of Long Beach, Lakewood Christian Church, Knott Avenue
Christian Church, Eastside Christian Church of Fullerton, First Filipino-American
Christian Church, Parkcrest Christian Church, Pomerado Christian Church,
and National City Christian Church in San Diego county.
Brief
History
On July 1, 1978 the CCMP was born, in a meeting of Christian Filipinos
at Circle Park, Huntington Beach, California. The idea was conceived as
early as 10 years before that, but did not materialize until that meeting.
Meetings to incorporate followed and on February 17, 1980, the group formally
elected the first set of officers. On October 20, 1980, the State of California
approved the Mission as a non-profit religious corporation. Subsequently
on December 23, 1980, the Internal Revenue Service granted tax-exempt
status to the CCMP.
